BP has entered the camping and caravanning market in a big way with the introduction of the exciting new 5kg refillable propane BP Gas Light cylinder. It is extremely light and is semi-transparent so that you can see the gas level. It is ideal for caravans in that it reduces the noseweight for safer towing. It can also be used for camping, motorhomes, patio heaters, barbeques and commercial use and is easy to transport.

It is interchangeable with the 10 kg refillable propane cylinder, which has proved very popular for use with patio heaters and barbeques. Both cylinders use the 27mm clip-on regulator - Our Ref.CG1. Gaslow products are also available for these cylinders from Gaslow stockists.

From its modest beginnings in 1935, Calor Gas has become the largest LPG supplier in the camping and caravanning market. Most caravan dealers and boat chandlers are Calor Gas stockists. Along with Flogas they probably have the largest network of gas stockists.

The main range of propane cylinders are 3.9kg, 6kg, 13kg, 19kg and 47kg. Each of these cylinder uses the 27mbar regulator. The main butane cylinders are the 4.5 kg, 7kg and 15kg. The 4.5kg cylinder has a unique regulator and the other two use the 21mm clip-on regulator. As there is such a large range of uses for each cylinder and these are itemised for each cylinder in our product search facility.

The alfresco range is represented by the Patio gas 5kg and 13kg cylinders and the BBQ gas 6kg propane cylinder. They use the 27mm clip-on regulator. Gaslow products are also available for these cylinders from Gaslow stockists.

There are also 12kg and 18kg fork lift truck propane cylinders which do not use a regulator. All cylinders in this section are refillable. There are instructions for the safe use of regulators with screw fittings on the Calor Gas website. Calor Gas cylinders are hired out and remain the property of Calor Gas Ltd.

In 1949, the founding engineers of Campingaz ® products created the first blue bottle. Campingaz ® supply 907, 904 and 901 butane gas cylinders, which are much smaller than any of the other brands and are ideal for camping or use in a confined space. The screw-on regulator is identical for all three bottles, and is unique to Campingaz, as is the carry handle which just screws onto the top of any Campingaz cylinder . Always ensure that the red seal that attaches the carry handle to the Campingaz bottle is intact when purchasing a refill. For this reason, you should always keep your carry handle safe and have it attached to the gas bottle when you are exchanging cylinders.

Campingaz cylinders are bought outright and remain the property of the purchaser. Campingaz also manufacture gas cartridges.

Handygas was started by Mr Handy in Swindon, Wiltshire. The company has since been taken over by BP. Macgas is the Scottish and Northern English equivalent and the two products are a mirror image apart from the different logos on the cylinders.

The range of Propane cylinders comprises of 6kg, 11kg, 19kg and 47kg and uses the 37mbar regulator. The butane cylinders are 4.5kg, 7kg and 13kg using the 20mm regulator. The same range is also available using the 21mm regulator.
